AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter offers scholarships to members to support educational conferences and opportunities to enhance development skills. One of the benefits of AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward membership is the opportunity to apply for a chapter Scholarship. Funding is awarded to members to defray the costs associated with attending educational conferences.
Chamberlin Scholarship (1 annually)
This scholarship assists an AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter member, who has never attended the annual AFP ICON, to have the opportunity to attend.
- May not exceed $1,000 and an applicant cannot have attended AFP ICON before – AFP Global covers all conference registration fees except $10 which is covered by the $1,000 award from AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter.
- Be a member in good standing of the AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter for at least one year
- Have attended at least four (4) of the scheduled monthly chapter meetings over the 12 months prior to the application deadline (NPD is not considered a monthly meeting)
- Be an active member of the board or serve on a chapter committee
- Be a contributor to AFP’s BE the CAUSE Campaign (BTC)
AFP ICON Scholarship (1 annually)
This scholarship assists in sending AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter members to AFP ICON.
- May not exceed $1,500
- Be a member in good standing of the AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter for at least one year
- Have attended at least four (4) of the scheduled monthly chapter meetings over the 12 months prior to the application deadline (NPD is not considered a monthly meeting)
- Be an active member of the board or serve on a chapter committee
- Be a contributor to AFP’s BE the CAUSE Campaign (BTC).
Planet Philanthropy Scholarship (2 annually)
This scholarship assists in sending AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter members to the annual Planet Philanthropy Conference.
- May not exceed $525
- Be a member in good standing of the AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter for at least six months
- Have attended at least two (2) of the scheduled monthly chapter meetings over the 12 months prior to the application deadline (NPD is not considered a monthly meeting)
- Be an active member of the board or serve on a chapter committee
- Be a contributor to AFP’s BE the CAUSE Campaign (BTC)
- Preference is given to first time scholarship applicants
Professional Development Scholarship (4 annually) – Rolling deadline
This scholarship assists in supporting AFP members’ educational advancement opportunities beyond AFP ICON and Planet Philanthropy. Examples AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course, and CFRE Exam Registration.
- May not exceed $350
- Be a member in good standing of the AFP Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter for at least six months
- Have attended at least two (2) of the scheduled monthly chapter meetings over the 12 months prior to the application deadline (NPD is not considered a monthly meeting)
- Is willing to be or currently serves on a chapter committee
- Be a contributor to AFP’s BE the CAUSE Campaign (BTC)
- Preference is given to first time scholarship applicants
Scholarships will not be awarded for:
- CFRE exam study course
- Membership dues or meeting fees
- AFP ICON attendance two years in a row
- Undergraduate or postgraduate course fees
